Description

LUM, also known as lumican, is a member of the class II small leucine-rich proteoglycan family. It is a major component of the cornea, dermal, and muscle connective tissues. It regulates collagenous matrix assembly as a keratan sulfate proteoglycan in the cornea and is also present in the connective tissues of other organs and embryonic corneal stroma as a glycoprotein. It may regulate collagen fibril organization and circumferential growth, corneal transparency, and epithelial cell migration and tissue repair. Recombinant human LUM, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques
